1. PR your way to a 5,000-person pre-launch waitlist 📰
EP389: Learning from the founder behind the wellness brand organically endorsed by Kim Kardashian and Hailey Bieber, Lucy Goff from LYMA.
In the words of Lucy Goff, a great idea is not good enough - if you can't sell it, it's pointless. With a background in PR, she knew all too well how crucial the right exposure would be in realizing those oh-so-important first 1000 customers. With that in mind, she built an A* strategy for LYMA, landing a 5K waitlist before launch.
How did this strategy look exactly? 👀 If you want to land noteworthy PR it's all about considering every part of the PR pie.
Something new: to be relevant enough you should be offering something innovative, you want to stand out from the crowded space 🦚
Someone famous: celebrity endorsements do wonders for putting you on the map, if you've caught some famous eyeballs you're onto something good ⭐
Some case studies: no one wants to be promoting something that doesn't actually work, use case studies to prove out your concept ✅
Lucy was able to build these three aspects into her launch seamlessly, as she knew this is what the newspaper would want. & this PR awareness is the absolute key to having long-term success. Don't underestimate that.
2. Don't do it for the money 💸
EP391: Chatting to Zoe Marshall, the host of The Deep podcast, the space for guests to share their fascinating stories and perspectives.
We've all heard it before. Follow your heart, not your head. Satisfy your passion, not your bank account. It can be frustrating to hear when the bills need to be paid, but there's some real truth to it. And that's not something we chat about enough on the show. ☁️
Zoe's biz model with The Deep is essentially to provide great value to people. If more people followed this ideal, I think we, the planet, and our economy would all be a lot happier. If people see value in what you do, the money will follow naturally. Focus on your business and exceeding expectations, not how many figures you're bringing in.
In the words of Zoe: don't be a slave to the dollars, and you'll be just fine. 💘
Biz Wins & Failz 🎢
Straight from Hype Club.
We’ve got an ongoing Biz Wins & Fails chat going in HC. This is where we can learn what we can hopefully avoid in our own journeys, and what keeps us feeling like we are not alone in celebrating those highs.
This week, Herbar's founder shared her collercoaster:
"We got our first two big stockists so I’m super stoked about that. But, on that very same day, we got hit w a big invoice from packaging shipping, and that hurt."
Entrepreneurship in a nutshell. A big congrats on landing the stockists, and don't let the shipping disasters typical of the moment damped the spirits. ✨
*The doors to Hype Club are open, now’s the time to join our community of uplifting entrepreneurs building the future CPG companies! It doesn't need to be lonely.
