1. Power Phrases 💥

EP327: Talking to the woman who sued the New York Subway to make a stand for pleasure at the forefront of wellness, Dame’s Alexandra Fine.

“You have a great product, say something powerful.” 💪

All too often, people underestimate the power of words in bringing their products out into the world. In your marketing, you can really have a conversation that prickles people’s ears. Gets people interested in wanting to have a conversation back with you. The bonus? Market with emotion and you’re going to get the press’ attention. Be outlandish. That’s earned media! It’s economical and it’s so damn powerful.

Earned media = coverage of your brand through organic means.

2. Setting a strong standard: 100K units out the door in your first year 🚀

EP329: An episode filled with so many pieces of gold from Denetrias Charlemagne, the co-founder of AVEC Drinks, replacing your old favorite mixers.

Dee shared her secret to reaching those crazy stats in her first year on the job. 📈

“We didn’t know how powerful PR could be to drive your whole business in the first year, but we knew we needed to tell a story.”

Tell a story about how to use your product, why, why to care, and create some excitement and buzz around it 🐝

  • Leverage anything that differentiates you from the others: AVEC has a diverse team, strong values, and had to launch on the internet due to COVID

  • Most launch dollars were spent on a really cool website: make sure the experience feels cool and your story is translated this way

  • Get in front of real people and do cool things. It’s fun!

Dee believes keeping your story at the core, is THE way to drive PR and earned media moving forward. And, I’d say their NY Times launch-day feature speaks for itself. 😏

Biz Wins & Failz 🎢

Straight from Hype Club.

We’ve got an ongoing Biz Wins & Fails chat going in HC. This is where we can learn what we can hopefully avoid in our own journeys, and what keeps us feeling like we are not alone in celebrating those highs.

Becca Mapes (Founder of @winden) shared her win with us this week:

“We received samples of the travel sized version of our shampoo and they’re finally correct so we’re able to move forward with production, small win, but launch day is just a little bit closer and that feels good!”

There’s no such thing as a small win in entrepreneurship - time to celebrate 🥳

*The doors to Hype Club are open again, so if you’ve been looking forward to joining us now’s the time!
