🔑 Insights From This Week’s Episodes on the Female Startup Club Podcast

Directly from the women building the world’s most exciting businesses in the e-commerce and CPG space.

1. The importance of diversifying your marketing channels 🔀

EP 178: In this ep with Amanda Niu from Aussie startup Eva, we’re talking truths on digital marketing...

In today’s landscape the bottom line is that you need to diversify your marketing channels. If Instagram suddenly disappeared, ask yourself what would that mean for your business? You need be on as many channels as possible. And it comes down to testing. Budget. Time: will this channel work or not for your business?

“We rely heavily on digital marketing. We view it as a holistic approach to marketing. They all [channels] contribute to the sale. You can’t deny that. Marketing should be viewed as a whole. Every person who is on that channel, on the team, is working together to make that sale.”

  • Reach your target market in new and exciting ways by being wherever they are

  • Gives you the edge over competition if you can add more channels

  • Tailor and test your content across each channel to see what drives results, and double down on that

2. The pitfall of perfectionism; an Entrepreneurs biggest challenge

EP179: Stephanie Lee from self-care startup SELFMADE gave us a real gem that we should all keep in mind when building and creating a business.

“As women we are often told that we need to prove ourselves, that we need to have it 100% perfect, but that’s false. I support myself with people that are my coach and my cheerleader. Putting it on paper, and sharing it. Shaping and moulding it, taking it to folks that you trust, to understand how you can take this idea into reality.

When you take off the responsibility of the everyday and you go and experience the world. And you get to know people. And you chat. And you do new things. And you’re vulnerable. These are all building blocks to becoming an entrepreneur. Becoming an entrepreneur is like diving off a cliff without a safety net. It’s scary. But it’s also so freaking exciting.

As a woman, if you’re planning to be an entrepreneur, some of the pitfalls I’ve encountered is this idea of perfectionism. Just put it out there, and iterate along the way. So much of our paralysis comes from spinning in circles around certain things, whilst part of it is just putting it out, seeing how people react, and then changing it. Psychologically, perfectionism stops you from having to face failure. But it actually keeps you from moving forward. I’m doing this for myself and everyone who needs this. Nothing needs to be perfect.

When it comes to paralysis from perfectionism, you really have to have a pep talk with yourself.”

The main learning here? Done is better than perfect.
