1. Go on now GO, get it out the door! 

EP458: Babba Rivera is just one of 58 Latinx Founders (😱) who have raised more than $1 Million in funding for Ceremonia; here’s her story.

A lot of people obsess over their launch, and they feel the launch has to be this big thing. Babba came at things a little differently. She's in the business of getting things done over having them be perfect (if you've listened to the show for a while, you'll know I'm also VERY much in this camp). Get it out the door quickly to people can try the product and you can iterate.

Babba's tactic? Launch with a single SKU, get your brand out the door (sooner rather than later), acquire customers, learn from them, and get their feedback on what to do next. Damn, that's going on a post-it! 

"In the age of social media, it's easy to forget it takes time to build a brand 💭 Don’t overthink it and just get started somewhere, one foot in front of the other. The early wins were really to learn from our customers and our community. Get that feedback loop going and don't forget to have fun along the way."

2. Pitching 101: from the best in the biz ⭐

EP460: From Create & Cultivate to her $20M Fund, New Money Ventures, Jaclyn Johnson steps us through her framework for investing in entrepreneurs. 

As head of New Money Ventures, Jaclyn speaks to 50 brands a week. Yes, a WEEK. Here's her key pitching advice for anyone raising capital going into 2023 (pens at the ready guys, this is pure gold!) ✨

1. You need to have some kind of presentation that goes along with it

2. Get across why this business needs to exist in the world, why you’re the right person to run it & what’s unique and different about you

3. Get people excited about the vision of your business (it gets down to story telling & marketing opportunity, talk about the biggest possible picture)

4. You don't need to have invented a brand new thing in order to have a differentiated edge in the market: use branding, a unique story, or stand-out pricing 

5. Talk about the challenges you're facing, honesty is the best policy

6. Make sure you're diving into the nitty-gritty of the numbers 

7. Mention the competitive landscape, founders who don't = a huge 🚩

But most of all, people are looking for that human touch. New Money Ventures want to make sure they believe in the founder and have a great rapport with the founder, and that they can help the founder in some way shape, or form through their own expertise. Focusing on building a human connection with who you're pitching to might just bring you much further than you think.
