Learnings hitting $200M+ revenue in your 20s šø & Women's Health is no longer a niche āØ
Hi! It's your BFF in biz dropping into your inbox with your weekly source of inspiration & information on all things around women in business rn.
Hey! Itās Doone, your hype girl in business. This one goes out to all of us dodging unsolicited business advice on the day-to-day, we're good. Thanks.
Now letās get into it š
Learnings from hitting $200M+ revenue
(in your 20s!) šø
If youāre a small business owner or entrepreneur you probably know how hard it can be to generate revenue. You might have just started and made a few salesā¦ You might have made a few thousand dollars in sales or maybe even a few hundred thousand! Now imagine scaling your business to hitting $200M in revenue. Itās wild. Kristel came on the show fresh off the rollercoaster and ready to share all her learnings:
1/ Beauty in Building Slow š¢
Follow this blueprint to build a 9-figure brand! Hereās your proven strategy to generate $100M+ in revenue! No, no, no. Kristel doesnāt want you to listen to her story and compare it to where you are in growing your business right now, she doesnāt even want you to copy the blueprint.
Because she would recommend going slower: youāll make far fewer mistakes and you might even avoid that grey cloud that goes by the name of burnout. There is real beauty in building a little bit slower and building traction in an organic way. A small mentality. A couple of SKUs. Learning along the way.
Are you going to immediately get rich with your launch? It happens, but the strongest likelihood is that if you plan it right, you'll have a sustainable job for yourself going forward. If you approach your new startup as a marathon, not a sprint, you can create a healthy business that will support you in the long run.
2/ The Art of The Self-Audit šµ
We often joke on the show that being an entrepreneur comes along with wearing all the hats.
āHi! Iām a social media expert/product designer/logistics coordinator/customer service rep that also leads a sales department whilst being in charge of finance, what do you do? :)ā
Whilst Iām sure you donāt need me to dive into how itās just a lot, juggling all these balls encourages you to build a very important skill in life & business: the art of self-audit. It is only by doing all the things that you can truly start to grasp: what are my strengths? Weaknesses? Is this what I want out of life?
Because ultimately, you have a choice. When it comes to deciding whether to bootstrap or whether to raise, you have a clear choice. The same goes for when you decide to expand internationally, or whether you want to grow your team. Whenever you get to one of these crossroads itās time to sit down and really think about what you want. Sit back and self-audit, does this still align with my big vision?
3/ The Bottleneck of Your Business š¾
Your flailing SEO strategy? The manufacturer that just wonāt get back to you in time? Problems with shipping delays? Practical complications can cause a headache, but when we get to the crux of it itās you as a founder who determines the real cap. You are the bottleneck of your business.
Some of the greatest growth that you will see happen in your company comes at times when you work on your personal growth. And by personal growth, I donāt mean having all the answers. Itās knowing that not knowing is your superpower. Itās knowing that you donāt need to know step 100 when youāre at step 1. Itās wholeheartedly finding peace with yourself when you are: on a seat at the table that you have built yourself.
Womenās Health is no longer a niche āØ
I want to take a quick second to jump into a topic that I know is going to be super relevant for every single one of you checking in, and thatās the topic of female health. Women have been underserved by the healthcare industry for a really damn long time. But now finally, with more women in STEM, and more female entrepreneurial disrupters, the future of femtech is looking bright!
Womenās health has taken the startup world by storm in the last few years, for (very) good reason. What used to be a niche category is projected to grow to a mighty $27.5B by 2028, and despite 2022ās headwinds (that weāre all feeling a lot), womenās health startups are doing better than ever before.
