1/ Founder mode was all over my your feed this week! And with the fear of sounding a little like this dude below, I think it managed to articulate what we all know to be true but weren’t sure how to put into words: whatever you’re not in the trenches on will be done poorly (so get in the trenches).

And for the girlies with the short attention spans (🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️🙋‍♀️) who don’t want to read the entire piece this break-down is an absolute saviour:

2/ And a practical & essential checklist if you’re thinking about retail:

1. Do you have product-market fit? (before you think about retail make sure your product has demand; retail will only amplify what’s working)

2. Do you have the resources to take on the complexity of being at a big box retailer? (large retailers = large challenges)

3. Do you have good packaging? (in the online world customers are swayed by reviews, product descriptions, and ads - in retail your product has to sell itself with just a glance on the shelf)

4. Will your product sell quickly in-store? (retailers care about velocity: this might mean running geo-targeted ads, partnering with local influencers or offering in-store exclusives and samples)

5. Have you run any tests with smaller retailers? (test your product in smaller retail to iron out any kinks and use that as a use-case)
