“Congrats to all the self-funded ladies” 💸

We've all heard the stories of startups securing funding that rivals a small country's GDP. But what about those of us who are navigating this wild ride armed with delulu, solulu, and a shoestring budget? This survival guide is for you - the cowboys of the startup world, the bootstrapped founders.

1/ Frugal Queen 👑 It’ll never stop amazing me how much we can do with how little when there’s just no other way. As a bootstrapped founder, budget constraints are your superpower. Think outside the box. Get creative.

2/ Love Don’t Cost a Thing 🎶 I hate to say it, but in the world of bootstrapping, your network is (more than ever) your net worth. Build relationships, collaborate, and tap into the power of community.

3/ The Turtle Wins 🐢 There’s a lot to be said for testing the waters and letting your audience guide you in those early days (without having an investor to answer to). Organise those beta groups. Get your MVP out there. Be scrappy. Iterate, iterate and iterate some more.

Remember, building something from nothing is not just a challenge; it's a badge of honor. As Kylie Bourjaily put so well: “you don't need VC $$ to be a successful entrepreneur”.

Pitch competitions give you the ick? 📢

Super excited to be a judge at One Roof’s Startup Women of the Year next week! This is the ultimate anti-pitch competition focused on the essence of startups: to address and solve significant global challenges (over just catering to those with a flair for extroversion and stage presence). I’m so on board.

Come and join us on November 23rd in Sydney to hype-girl a handful of brilliant minds taking their startups to the next level. I can guarantee you’ll meet some epic women and learn a thing or two for your current business - or your future business (+ I’d also love to meet you!!)

Join the Hype-Girl movement and come say hey 🙂
