Hey world, I’m 35! ✨

TLDR - I turned 35 last week and I’m sharing my TFE’s (slash concerns) on having a baby.

If you’ve been part of the FSC universe you’ll know that our vibe has mostly been about business education specifically around ecommerce, but as the business evolves and I evolve too — I’m excited to start exploring and sharing more women’s experiences in other areas outside of ecomm x entrepreneurship — like the gaps (wage, funding, retirement!), consumer tech, venture capital and fundraising, mental health, personal finance and wealth - and motherhood. Motherhood is a big one that’s on my mind…

Last week I turned 35 —a time for introspection and reflection— birthday’s are such a funny thing as you get older (I’ve always been a big fan), but I’m in that era where the whole body-clock-baby-thing is becoming more of a pressing topic (according to my mum, my doctor, other mums and the very loud data/stats/media etc). It’s a loud reminder that if I do want to have a baby, I should probably be thinking about it more seriously. But then my thoughts go to a variety of other things. Like divorce stats and my professional career, the retirement gap... I know I’m not alone in these thoughts, so I thought maybe I’d share them with you too incase you’re having the same, or been through the same, or have any wisdom to share with me?

I grew up being raised by a single mum in a tiny town on the side of a mountain. She had no money, no partner and no higher education after leaving school in grade 10; my world view is shaped through that lens and the challenges that came with this. Being a single parent is hard and divorce rates are high - and it’s a very real reality that we need to consider if we choose to have children. I’m seeing it personally in my friendship circle and we know the stats; we’ve all got a 50/50 chance. So if we leave our career to raise children; there’s a lot to consider.

There’s also the impact on our super/401k if we pause contributions to it (even a few years makes a huge difference by the time we retire — women reach retirement with a gap of 22-35% less than men) why is no one talking about this??

All this to say… It feels like I’m just reaching the good part in my career and everything is coming together, how are we navigating these feelings and very real realities?

Do you have any wisdom or stories to share with me? I’d love to hear from you…. (Just hit reply to drop directly into my inbox)

1/ How to get more done in less time šŸ‘‰

You loved this a peek behind the curtain at the tools Kate Bour uses to run her $400K/year business—completely solo! If you’re a time-strapped founder or solopreneur, these are 7 tools that you haven’t heard of.

2/ Would you enjoy work? šŸ¤”

Oh this one got me srsly thinking. Just the way Gen Z’s changing relationship with work has had everyone talking. But is it really that surprising? Back in the day, a 9-5 gig could set you up for life— buy a house, traveling, and having a family with multiple kids. Today, that’s not quite the case. If your hard work doesn’t lead to financial freedom or the lifestyle you dream of, would you feel the same drive and motivation? I’m thinking no.

Female-founded ✨remote jobs✨

I was chatting with a client this week about the importance of having a stable income stream, especially in the early stages of building your business. It's crucial to cover your bills so you can focus on growth without the immediate pressure to make it profitable—particularly when it’s a tech or product-based business that requires significant capital. The reality of building a biz is that it can take years before you’re able to start paying yourself something meaninful; and not having the money piece sorted can lead to the downward spiral. Energetically - it sucks. (I’ve been there).

Securing a side gig or remote job that supports your financial needs allows you to invest in your business from a place of abundance rather than desperation. Here’s a few goodies we found this week;

REMOTE šŸļø
