1. A Whole New World: The Internet 🌎
Business Success = Opportunity + Being Fast Enough to Take it
A lot of people are tripping up on this second part. They take the opportunity, but they don’t move fast. They don’t build the team. The infrastructure. So they can’t quickly grow big. Then what? 🤔
In order to successfully capitalise on opportunities, the ones so prevalent since the internet is a thing, you have to go about this differently.
A lot of people take traditional infrastructure ideas from what was taught 5-10 years ago, and try to apply that to the age we have now. But it doesn’t make sense. We have the internet now. You have to do things differently. You have to move faster. 🚀
“Today, the ones that thrive are the ones that break the rules of norm.”
EP192: Key insights from the 28 year old 9-figure, $100M annual revenue 4-time-business owner Leila Hormozi (with a bloody incredibly inspiring entrepreneurial journey!)
2. Critical To Do’s and To Don’ts from a Beauty Brand Building Boss 😎
EP190: Saw me chatting to beauty consultant turned entrepreneur Lin Chen (of Pink Moon) about her extensive experience in the world of Beauty Brand Building. I’d note down these exclusive insider insights:
✔️ TO DO ✔️
Over-Identify 🎀
First and foremost, have a really strong brand identity. A strong unique logo. High quality packaging. Awesome design.
“Now as consumers, we buy with our eyes. We’ll go for the one with the beautiful packaging. Something that makes me feel good when I see it.”
Over-Research 📚
You can’t know too much. Especially when reaching out to retailers, make sure to look at the brand mission. The ethos. & ensuring your brand aligns with it.
❌ TO DON’T ❌
Over-Ad-Spend 💸
Don’t waste money on ads when you’re first starting out. Big statement, but great point.
“We didn’t spend any money on paid ads until 5 months. Organic growth is so important for testing the market.”
Over-Inventory 📦
If you’re a new brand, newly launched… You don’t want to buy 1000 units before even testing it. It’s a huge investment. Start slow and small. Lin recommended to launch with a maximum of 3 products. Any more? It’s just costly & confusing.
3. Don’t Be Boring, Be Interesting 🤪
EP192: The 101 of landing a retailer. Amy Liu landed her dream retailer for Tower 28 with a pretty memorable pitch. I won’t give away too much, but let’s just say it involves a boombox, popsicles and lipgloss.
The lesson? Make them feel your brand. Animate it. Stand out. 🎆
You want your dream retailer to say yes, but you don’t just want them to say yes. You want them to be SO excited to be doing this. So… Make them. Create that excitement. I seriously love a cool out-the-box story like this one. It’s so inspiring.
